  • Since I went vegan I don't take medication and feel much better than taking it, yet depression is still there.

Will check the papers and try it ASAP!

    Thanks!

  • A very simple way to test if an individual is serotonin deficient is to give them 200-400mg of 5-HTP each early evening for 3-4 weeks. If t hey respond then you look at the amount of tryptophan being consumed and iff the individual is taking in adequate amounts of the required cofactors needed to convert the tryptophan to 5_HTP. This isn't rocket science, this is common sense!!! The thing is the vast majority of patients aren't serotonin low but become low due to the fact that SSRI's keep the

  • (continued) serotonin attached to the receptor which tricks the brain into stopping production. Most patients aren't serotonin low, they are suffering from inflammation and depending on the severity of the inflammation and the genetic predisposition the patient will go on and develop a particular mental illness. It's so simple really… My question is is saffron a natural anti-inflammatory agent? It wouldn't surprise if it was. Psyche drugs and psychiatrists suck… Period… ❤Ŀ☼√Ξ PΞДCΞ❤

  • this study looks very flowed, why there is no control (placebo) and how on earth they justified not giving these clinically depressed patients proper (proven) treatment, maybe these were not "depressed enough" to get enrolled in the treatment, and they all would have got better even if they had received placebo.

  • Great little video. It would be great to see more on mood, depression and food. One of my videos, "sh*t a barefoot vegan endurance runner says", has helped me find more people who doing the same (example, Ken Bob Saxton/coauthor of Barefoot Running Step by Step, eats plants … vegan ultra runners, vegan barefoot runners etc. They seem HAPPY. They are happy imo because eating exclusively plant based foods makes people FEEL GOOD. Feeling good attracts more good feelings, on and on it goes. Feeling good helps energy levels, energy drives healthy motion, which makes you feel even better. Any endurance runner knows the happy buzz from running! Plant foods sure seem to enhance the buzz!

  • These comments are ridiculous. Some people need SSRIs. I tried saffron at the exact dosage used in the study for several months and nothing happened. I folded and got a prescription for Lexapro from my doctor and within a week I'm already feeling better. Sure, give Saffron a try, but if you have a severe anxiety disorder such as SAD, you shouldn't get your hopes up. Plus, Saffron supplements are expensive.

  • The saffron extract is working for me only after 2 days. I'm on a standardized 30 mg. regimen of 1 capsule, once a day. I'll increase to two after 2 weeks. So far, it's definitely a wonderful alternative to ssri's, which never worked for me.
