  • Such a simple remedy. I still don't understand how people don't do this without hearing any studies that proves they won't get stones from their current eating habits

  • I get oxalate stones and I stay away from high oxalate foods like beans, nuts, etc.  Now I need to stay away from salt and the small amounts of meat I eat.  What a bummer.  At least I love veggies!

  • Thank you for this information!  I have had kidney stones, and do not eat much meat, but do consume eggs and cheese in moderation.  I am glad to know that I can eat as much vegetables as I want and not suffer from kidney stones.

  • I have an interesting experience to share:  I had a kidney stone after being vegan for 3 years which I still am going on year 5 now.  What caused the kidney stone was that I was drinking a total of perhaps 2 cups of coffee in the morning and maybe one bottled water per day.  The pain of the kidney stone which was unbearable and made me vomit from pure pain started when I ate an avocado.  I found that I experienced pain about 10 to 20 min after eating a fatty or satiating food.  When I made myself puke, the pain went away.  When I had an empty stomach the pain went away.  So I went low fat raw vegan/fruitarian for the remainder of the 4 days it took to pass the stone and experienced zero pain.

    The prevention is drink enough water so that the urine can never become super saturated.  For me the cure after the fact is to pretty much water fast or eat low fat, high water content fruits and maybe some veggies with no salt or fat.

    I feel that what I learned by experimentation should be shared so that it stays in the back of your head.  If you get a kidney stone, try it and see if it works.  I think it will. It might save you a ton of pain.

  • I used to have 2-3 kidney stones on both kidneys every month as well as inflammation of my bladder.. I was always in pain .. 
    I went vegan and all my kidney stones went away 🙂

  • Hi, my friend went whole food plant based and her kidney stones increased like crazy. After a year she went back to eating a pescaterian diet which helped lessen the kidney stones to 2-3 per month. She really wants to go back to wholefood plant based again. Any advice please?

  • I got kidney pain and kidney stones from eating too much raw spinach and raw vegetables.  I have been a vegan for years.  When I cut out the spinach for a while and started cooking some of the vegetables, expecially some of the green leafy ones, my kidney pain went away and the stones passed.  Oxalates were the culprit I am sure.  Also, lots of cold based foods, as least from a Chinese medicine perspective, is not altogether healthy as constant cold or raw foods can weaken the kidneys and cause various issues from joint pain and urinary incontinence and weak bones.  You need a balance of yin and yang foods, raw and cooked to keep the furnaces in your body strong.

  • I used to eat tuna almost everyday for yeeears! I was a tunaholic. No wonder I'm in a bad state of health right now, all centring around my kidneys and bowels…and I'm only 28. Not to say tuna was the only culprit!

  • I am 21 years old and I have had 2 awful kidney stones in my lifetime.
    The first one last year and it was my right side.
    Now I have had my second one a few months ago and it was on my left side.
    The second time was worse then the first!!
    I had 3 at once!!! worse pain of my life!!!
    Anyway I have been vegetarian for 9 days!
    I stopped cold turkey! HAHA My goal is to be Vegan.
    I am happy to hear that this lifestyle change I made will also help my Kidney stones!

  • Artichokes, Bean Sprouts, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Leeks, Mushrooms, Peas & Pea Sprout are all HIGH IN PURINES which can cause Kidney Stones !

  • this is all BS. Chanca Piedra is a rain forest herb
    that dissolves kidney & gall stones in hours. If your having kidney
    stones often you may have a condition that docs often dont know about

  • there are oxalates in green vegetables it seems nobody knows where oxalates are coming from exactly some people say you need to eat dairy as it has vitamin k2 in it and you get people who say you shouldn't eat dairy I wish you would all shup up and stop making stupid videos beacuse you don't have a a clue anyway if your not 100% sure why tell the whole world some something which is conflicting with other info

  • I passed 7 calcium oxilate kidney stones before my urologist was able to do surgery to remove them. After I passed them, his office advised I stay away from dark leafy greens, eat lots of yogurt and increase animal protein in my diet. I call this avice complete BS.

  • I got kidney stones the size of Texas after drinking Earl Grey tea with a tumeric rich food for the first time. I had to drink loads of water and prayed to Zeus to have it gone 😥

  • What a load of crap! The long term vegans/vegetarians who pound their bodies with leafy greens and that artificial calcium (aka limestone) in processed almond milk seem to get kidney stones faster than any meat eater I've ever known.
    I used to listen to Dr. Greger until literally everything can be "cured" with a vegan diet. Didn't cure my parent's diabetes like he promises. Hardly touched their cholesterol levels. Made me constipated and have acne like a teenager along with muscle cramps, low sports performance and depression. That's YOUR WFPB diet Dr. Greger. That's your tons of veggies, fruits and beans and whole grains and no oil or processed food. The diet of so much fiber you feel like your bowels will explode any minute. The diet that so many people can't digest. The diet that DOESN'T cure heart disease because those studies you cite still had dairy and used statin drugs and like 5 other interventions. The man made diet full of digestive distress and lacking in so many things which is why you became a peddler for taking a handful of supplements which aren't even made from food while making excuses as to why we're still supposed to be vegan.
    We're so naturally vegan that we need man made food with man made chemicals added just to stay alive while no other animal has to eat man made food in order to survive. Appeal to nature only applies to the human diet I guess. No other species natural diet requires artificial life support vitamins, algae omega 3 (when was the last time you walked past an algae bloom and thought it looked tasty?), and possibly conditionally essential nutrients in supplement form. Yet you're convincing people to convince themselves that humans aren't omnivorous and that mother nature didn't have it figured out when requiring us to consume some sort of animal life in order to survive and thrive properly without artificial crap.
    The only way you can survive on a vegan diet long term without supplements is to consume insects – exactly like our primate cousins have to do – either intentionally or accidentally. WE ARE NOT NATURAL VEGANS so stop pretending like we are. And again, it's funny that the "appeal to nature" fallacy will come up, but it only applies to humans and no other animal. Zoo animals on artificial human food get heart disease which is cleared up as soon as they are put on their natural diet. These studies of heart disease "clearing up on a vegan diet" never utilize a vegan diet and have drugs added to them.
    Not to mention that over 3/4 of the people you convert will revert back to omnivorous diets because that is what humans are designed to eat. That's why you and McDougall and all the other 10-15 year and longer vegans look sickly, pale, weak, and like if you fell over you'd die from a hip fracture.
